Nina Zipfel
Nina is coming to Cannon Falls from Gerderath, a small town near Erkelenz in North Rhine Westphalia in western Germany, not far from Cologne or Dusseldorf, near the boders of Belgium and the Netherlands. Gerderath, a rural farmining community has a population of 3,500 and Erkelenz, is a city of about 35,000 people. The area is undergoing significant change as coal is currently being mined and similar to the iron ore mining areas in Minnesota, as an area is mined, the landscape is forever changed.
One of Nina’s special interests is the piano, which she has played for many years. She is also a snowboard enthusiast and a swimmer.
Her career goal is to become a doctor, perhaps in psychology.
Nina’s mother is from Iran and traveling to her mother’s homeland has given her a world wide perspective. Her father is German and works as a lawyer and lecturer at a University specializing in tax and criminal law.
Nina’s sister was also an exchange student in the United States through Rotary.
