2007 Paul Harris Fellowship Awards
On Tuesday, September 18, the Cannon Falls Rotary Club sponsored its annual Paul Harris Fellowship Awards ceremony at the Cannon River Winery.

Paul Harris founded the first Rotary Club in 1905. Since then, his name has become synonymous with the highest ideals and spirit of Rotary International. Recipients of a Paul Harris Fellowship needn't be a member of Rotary; rather, Rotary members may nominate anyone from the community who has consistently demonstrated the driving principle behind Rotary International -- SERVICE ABOVE SELF.

It was the privilege of the Cannon Falls Rotary Club to award Paul Harris Fellowships to:

L to R: Bryan Moon, Tom Heski, Paul Hurt, and Cannon Falls Rotary Club President Greg Wulf.

Bryan Moon
Bryan Moon was chosen to be a Paul Harris Fellow because of his many achievements in the airline industry and in the art and literary world. He rose to the top ranks of several airlines, is well known in the art world for his paintings, primarily of aircraft and has produced several theater productions dealing with World War II aviation. One of his major achievements has been the formation of MIA Hunters, an organization which seeks to locate, recover and return lost World War II American airmen and bring them back for burial here in the U.S. Through this organization, Bryon has gained world-wide notoriety and has helped many families cope with the loss of their loved ones during World War II.

Tom Heski
Tom Heski is a recently retired long-time Randolph sixth grade teacher. He has won numerous awards for his teaching and coaching skills. At the beginning of his career he established the “Randolph Sixth Grade Campout,” which continues to exist and which is the highlight of every Randolph sixth grader’s year. Tom has also had an illustrious military career, rising through the ranks to become a command sergeant major, the highest enlisted rank possible.

Paul Hurt
Paul Hurt, in spite of the loss of an arm 54 years ago and a very difficult childhood, has been one of the most productive citizens in the Cannon Falls area over his lifetime. He has participated in many civic and community activities, has sought out those who have lost limbs to let them know that losing a body part is not a death sentence and has inspired everyone with whom he has come in contact by carrying on a normal life even without the use of his right arm.
